Elizabeth M. Ward, MS, RD, is a freelance writer and nutrition consultant. She is the author of The American Dietetic Association's Pregnancy Nutrition: Good Health for You and Your Baby; co-author of Super Nutrition After 50, and contributing editor for Pillsbury's Healthy Baking. Ward frequently contributes to publications such as Pregnancy, Shape, Fit Pregnancy, Environmental Nutrition, and Men's Health. Her most recent book, Healthy Food, Healthy Kids, will be published in 2002.
As a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association for 10 years, Ward was featured in more than 1,000 local and national print and broadcast interviews, including CNN's On the Menu, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, and ABC Radio News. She has conducted seminars for many organizations, including The American Dietetic Association and the Tenth International Congress of Dietetics in Paris, France. Ward created and conducted corporate nutrition education programs for five years with Medical Care Affiliates/Health Promotion Affiliates in Boston, where she also counseled patients. She has also worked at the Joslin Diabetes Center, the American Heart Association, and for seven years counseled patients at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates on a variety of issues including healthy eating and weight control.
Ward completed her undergraduate degree in human nutrition at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; a one-year dietetic internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston; and a master's degree in mass communication at Boston University.
