Burger King to Sell 'Veggie' Whopper Nationwide

Burger King plans to introduce its plant-based Impossible Whopper across the United States by the end of the year.

Monday's announcement comes after the success of the company's test run of the product at 59 restaurants in the St. Louis area. The vegetarian take on Burger King's signature sandwich uses patties from California meat substitute maker Impossible Foods, CBS News reported.

This is the latest in a growing number of plant-based burger choices at fast-food chains.

A 2017 Nielsen Homescan survey found that 39% of Americans said they were actively trying to eat more plant-based foods, CBS News reported.
