Medical Definition of Hematochezia

Hematochezia: Bright red blood in the stool, usually from the lower gastrointestinal tract -- the colon or rectum -- or from hemorrhoids.

The term "hematochezia" is rarely used. "Bright red blood in the stool" is more widely used (and understood).
