
Dr. Daar received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and his clinical and research fellowship in infectious diseases at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA. Dr. Daar is currently the chief of the Division of HIV Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is a member of numerous scientific societies, the recipient of many grants, and author of more than 300 original manuscripts and abstracts. He has been a reviewer for many scientific and clinical journals and is a member of the editorial board of Current HIV/AIDS reports, AIDS, AIDS Research and Treatment and the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Infectious Diseases. He also chairs the NIAID Prevention Trials Data Safety Monitoring Board and is a panel member on the Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines Panel for Antiretroviral Therapy for Adults and Adolescents.
