The U.S. National Library of Medicine suggests how to manage and recover from laryngitis:
- Try not to talk, allowing your vocal cords to rest.
- Run a humidifier to ease a sore, scratchy throat.
- Take a decongestant.
- Take a pain-relieving drug.
- Ask your doctor before you take an antibiotic, which won't help the most common cause of laryngitis -- a virus.
