Medical Definition of Ciliary muscle

After graduating from St. Louis University School of Medicine, he completed his Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

Ciliary muscle: A circular muscle that relaxes or tightens the zonules to enable the lens to change shape for focusing.

The zonules are fibers that hold the lens suspended in position and enable it to change shape during accommodation.
