Patient Comments: Mitochondrial Disease - Treatment

What kinds of treatment, therapy, or medication have you received for mitochondrial disease?

Comment from: Jerzy, 45-54 Male (Patient) Published: November 07

My mitochondria was damaged 91 percent by antibiotics. Check your medical history if you ever had antibiotic like Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox; they are from group fluoroquinolone (chemotherapy). These antibiotics can damage your mitochondria by free radical and mitochondrial DNA damage. After 6 years my mitochondria is functional 30 percent. Thank goodness I am still alive; though I still have many health problems.

I was suffering from chronic fatigue and lack of energy and when I exercise cramp in my muscles. I used a tonic prepared from ashwagandha, now it is gone.
