Intrauterine growth restriction: The growth of the fetus is abnormally slow. When born, the baby appears too small, relative to its dates. Intrauterine growth restriction is associated with increased risk of medical illness and death in the newborn.
Intrauterine growth restriction is also referred to as fetal growth restriction or intrauterine growth retardation.
