Verruca Vulgaris After Treatment. Verruca Vulgaris are common warts, and this photo shows warts on the toes of a teenage boy after they have been treated with salicylic acid. Warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) and are generally harmless. Some warts will disappear on their own within a year while some patients may choose medical therapy with chemicals, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy or electrocautery (electric needle). Several at home remedies also may be effective (duct tape, apple cider vinegar, castor oil).
