Picture of Rothmund-Thomson Syndrome

Rothmund-Thomson syndrome is a rare condition that affects many parts of the body, including the skin, sweat glands, hair, nails, teeth and mucous membranes. One of RTS's characteristics is a facial rash that starts developing between the ages of 3 months and 6 months, eventually spreading to arms and legs. A lifelong condition, those with RTS are usually short in stature and experience areas of thinning skin and hair, including sparse or absent eyelashes and/or eyebrows. They may also develop juvenile cataracts, have skeletal abnormalities, be predisposed to cancer, and age prematurely.
