The hydrogen breath test uses the measurement of hydrogen in the breath to diagnose several conditions that cause gastrointestinal symptoms. Gastrointestinal symptoms diagnosed by the hydrogen breath test include:
- lactose intolerance,
- celiac disease,
- small bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine,
- and pancreatic insufficiency.
