Treatment for hemophilia B has been successful in the past but mostly when dealing with hemophilia treatment centers. Healthcare away from treatment centers can range from good to poor depending on the knowledge and attentiveness of the healthcare providers. Small bleeds go unattended more often away from treatment centers due to lack of knowledge of healthcare providers of how to treat and coordinate therapy and misunderstanding of the seriousness of even a minor joint bleed in relation to future bleeds and higher healthcare costs. You must be very alert when receiving healthcare away from treatment centers as healthcare providers unfamiliar with hemophilia may attempt to give not only incorrect doses of factor, but the wrong factor type entirely. There is a slow response time to demand therapy away from hemophilia treatment centers.
