A viewer wants to know whether symptoms of GERD can improve with weight loss in an otherwise overweight person?

Dr. Marks:
There is no conclusive evidence that the symptoms of GERD lessen with either weight loss or stopping smoking. Although gastroenterologists and primary care doctors will always ask our patients to do both.
