Flurona is a slang term that has been adopted by the press to refer to individuals who are affected by both influenza and COVID-19. It is theoretically possible to test positive for both viral infections at the same time, and news outlets reported in January 2022 that a woman in Israel tested positive for both viruses, according to the Israel Ministry of Health. The influenza virus and COVID-19 virus can produce similar symptoms, including cough, fever, muscle aches, fatigue, and headache.
