Overview

Welcome to My Home Page! My Practice Philosophy I think patient education is very important. I've always tried to make complicated medical issues and concepts understandable to my patient, so they can make informed decisions. I also try to encourage my co-workers and patients to stay active through physical exercise. I particularly encourage a walking program such as the 10,000 steps pedometer program. Walking is an easy way to burn calories. It is good for our heart, muscles and bones, and we can do it almost anywhere. Try to set reasonable daily goals by adding 50-100 steps more everyday. Walking helps us increase the number of calories our bodies use, helps control appetite, and even can help us relax. It is a good idea to start a walking club with friends and co-workers. Try to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Try to take several short 10-minute walks during the day. Ten minutes of exercise three times a day is just as good as thirty minutes at one time. Physical activity and healthy eating are the key factors to reduce risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Small changes every day can help us look and feel better. Why I choose to practice at Kaiser Permanente I choose to practice at Kaiser Permanente because it is a fully integrated health care delivery system, and there is a lot of cooperation between physicians for the benefit of the patients. In Northern California, numerous outside reports repeatedly acknowledge Kaiser Permanente as the one of the best health care systems in California. I particularly like Kaiser Permanente’s advanced computer and information technology (IT) systems. I think our IT advancements will further enhance my ability to deliver superior care to my patients. I've been with Kaiser Permanente for more than 14 years now, and each year I'm challenged to stay on top of my profession with continuing education and training. Treatment options are on the rise as equipment and techniques improve. It is great to work in a health care delivery system which is expanding and building a new hospital and medical offices. Our new Walnut Creek Emergency Department received rave reviews for its size and modern services like digital radiology and expanded observation rooms. The goal of Kaiser Permanente is to maximize our members’ well-being to allow them to live happier, healthier lives… to thrive!. Kaiser Permanente was founded as a preventive, wellness-focused health care delivery system. Kaiser Permanente’s longstanding commitment to the total health of its members and employees gives us the credibility to be health advocates for our patient. Why I chose medicine as a career From an early age, I always knew I wanted to be a doctor. It was my dream and goal to take care of people and make them feel better. I felt there was nothing more satisfying than the ability to touch someone's life and make a positive impact. Medicine is one of the few professions where I can do just that. It is the most interesting, rewarding and fulfilling profession in the world. I may not be able to heal every disease out there, but I can make someone feel cared for by providing advice, education and reassurance. Medicine is demanding and sometimes stressful, but it challenges and pushes me to excel and do better each day. It is a serious vocation to be taking overall responsibility for the health of people I care for, but I've never complained of being bored. My clinical interests My clinical interest is helping patients with gastrointestinal bleeding and biliary tract disease. I take pride in using minimally invasive, high tech endoscopies to treat gastrointestinal and biliary tract disease, and decrease the need for open surgery for our patients. In addition to gastroenterology, I have a special medical interest in the promotion of nutrition, wellness, physical activity, and obesity prevention. I am very concerned that obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the United States and throughout the
