Dr. Orlandi is an otolaryngologist (ENT) who is the only fellowship-trained nasal and sinus specialist in the intermountain West. His practice is focused on the treatment of complex problems of the nose, sinuses, and anterior skull base (the area between the sinuses and the brain). He was born in New York City and subsequently raised in Utah. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah and then returned to New York City for medical school at NYU. He traveled to UCLA for residency and then completed a fellowship in Rhinology and Sinus Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the faculty of the University of Michigan where he was associate director of the Michigan Sinus Center. In 2000, he left Michigan to return to Utah and is currently a tenured professor of surgery at his alma mater, the University of Utah. He is the medical director for the ENT Clinic and the Surgical Specialty Center, as well as the medical director for Specialty Services for the Community Clinics. He has been a principal investigator on a grant from the National Institute of Bioengineering and Biomedical Imaging concerning sinus wound healing modifiers. Dr. Orlandi is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Rhinologic Society and is on the Editorial Board of its scientific publication, the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology. He reviews articles for all of the major journals in otolaryngology and also chairs the research grant review sections for the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Foundation and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy Foundation. He has lectured throughout the United States and in Europe and South America on a wide range of sinus and nasal topics. He co-directs one of the largest continuing education activities in his field, the Western States Rhinology Course, and is the co-founder and secretary of its parent foundation. He is the author of over 70 journal articles and book chapters and greatly enjoys teaching medical students and residents. He has been married for over 20 years and has three great kids. He enjoys biking (both road and mountain), backpacking, and skiing.
