Overview

Scott Solomon, M.D., is board certified in the subspecialties of medical oncology and hematology. H e is Medical Director of the Stem Cell Processing Laboratory at Northside Hospital, and is Medical Director of the National Marrow Donor Transplant Program at Northside Hospital. Dr. Solomon completed his subspecialty fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco in 2001 prior to joining the staff of the blood and marrow transplant program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, Maryland. While there, he conducted clinical research on the topic of novel methods of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prevention, including selective depletion of GVHD-causing lymphocytes. His undergraduate training was completed at the University of Virginia, where he was an Echols Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He participated in the highly competitive Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)- NIH Research Scholars Program, in addition to receiving the Medical Student Research Award from the American Federation for Clinical Research. He has authored and co-authored articles and abstracts in the field of stem cell transplantation in peer-reviewed articles such as Blood, Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Cytotherapy, the British Journal of Haematology and the Journal of Immunotherapy. His clinical and translational research interests include innovative approaches to improving the success of allogeneic stem cell transplantation, including GVHD prevention strategies; adoptive cellular immunotherapy; and novel vaccination approaches to improving donor immunity following allogeneic transplant. Dr. Solomon is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
