Kenneth Grossmann, MD, PhD Assistant Professor, Division of Oncology, Department of Medicine Kenneth Grossmann, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Oncology for the Department of Medicine and a Huntsman Cancer Institute investigator. He is a medical oncologist with the Melanoma and Cutaneous Oncology Program. Grossmann sees patients with advanced melanoma and also conducts clinical trials. His laboratory research focuses on a demethylase enzyme complex that can cause the hallmarks of many kinds of cancer, including melanoma. Additionally, he focuses on understanding other signaling pathways in melanoma tumors and developing methods to overcome resistance to targeted therapies. Better understanding of melanoma tumor biology may lead to new ways to treat the disease. Grossman completed undergraduate studies in biology at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. He earned his PhD and MD degrees from the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) in Portland. He completed a combined fellowship in medical oncology at OHSU and the University of Utah, and also participated in a melanoma and cutaneous oncology rotation at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
