You can also find out a lot about your orthopedic condition by clicking here, Common Orthopedic Problems and Surgeries. About Me I was born in Chicago, Illinois. My family moved a lot while I was very young. My elementary school days took place on the Peninsula. I attended Elizabeth van Auken Elementary, Stanford Elementary, and Terman Junior High School. I then moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where I attended the Friends School. At Friends, I played football and lacrosse and wrestled. My senior year, I won the Maryland Scholastic Association wrestling tournament for the 145 pound weight class. I went to Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachussettes, and graduated cum laude in East Asian Studies. At college, I rowed crew, played rugby, and was captain of the varsity wrestling team my senior year. I stayed at Harvard for medical school. While in medical school, I lived in one of the undergraduate houses, Kirkland House, and worked as a pre-medical tutor. I did my internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the Univeristy of California San Francisco Medical Center. One of my rotations was in the office started by Dr. Sterling Bunnell, the father of hand surgery. My experience in that office and some other rotations that gave me a lot of exposure to hand surgery led me to pursue a post-graduate fellowship in hand surgery. I did a year long hand surgery fellowship in Buffalo, New York, with Dr. Clayton Peimer. I have had the privilege of practicing at Kaiser Permanente since 1992. I am a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and American Medical Association. I have been married for more than 20 years. I have two wonderful children and a dog. When not working, I enjoy exploring California and our national parks with my family.
