Overview

Dr. Beall?s training includes a general orthopedic surgery residency, a one year fellowship in surgery of the hand and upper extremity, and a three month fellowship in pediatric upper extremity surgery. Dr. Beall enjoys seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions, and performs a range of orthopedic procedures.Some areas of particular interest include the use of both traditional techniques and modern arthroscopic approaches to common and complex problems of the hand, wrist, and elbow, including trauma, arthritis, nerve injuries or compression (carpal tunnel syndrome), and management of the upper extremity in children with congenital differences. Dr. Beall places a primary emphasis on establishing good communication with patients and taking time to ensure that they understand the nature of their condition, the full range of treatment options, and what treatment plans would best help them achieve their goals for recovery while minimizing risks. Treatment often involves surgery, but many conditions can be effectively treated with a multi-faceted, non-operative approach. Most patients research their orthopedic conditions on the Internet, and it is easy to become confused by the high volume of sometimes contradictory or misleading information. One of Dr. Beall roles as your physician involves guiding you to reliable, current sources of information on the web whenever possible. Dr. Beall is married, with two sons. He grew up in Kansas City and was drawn to Portland by its friendliness and wealth of outdoor activities. He and his family are passionate about cycling as transportation and recreation.
