Dr. Clader was raised in West Texas, the son of a father who was a physician and a mother who was a nurse. He has three brothers: A dentist in Colorado, a Veterinarian in Texas, and a PhD Engineer in California. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Chemistry with honors in 1974. He then graduated from medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1978, and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at UCLA in 1983. Dr. Clader and his family have lived in Rochester since 1983. Although he considers himself a general orthopaedist, Dr. Clader primary area of practice centers around treatment of disorders of the knee, hip and shoulder. He also remains active in providing trauma care for patients with skeletal injuries. He has amassed an experience of thousands of surgical cases in the above areas, and remains active in the implementation as well as the teaching of new technologies in these areas. Dr. Clader is the Associate Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rochester General Hospital, and shares responsibilities organizing the Department, and sits on various hospital committees. He has been a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Rochester since 1984, and holds the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Clader was a member of the Question Writing Task Force of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons for ten years. This Task Force writes the questions each year for the certifying examination given each year which orthopaedists take in order to become board certified. More recently, he was the elected Western New York representative to the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Away from his orthopaedic practice, Dr. Clader is the father of four (two girls, two boys) and now grandfather of two (soon to be three!). He and his wife, Anna, are actively involved with the St. Elizabeths Church in Rochester, where Dr. Clader also serves as choir director. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and photography.
