I have known Aloe vera works as a natural laxative however a species of aloe, Aloe ferox does the job more effectively, contained in Digestic.

I have been using pain medications for 15 years and I use Mestinon for constipation. Pyridostigmine is the generic name, it is a prescription drug for myasthenia gravis, which was given to me for constipation caused by opioids. I took 1 tablet 60 mg twice daily for 10 years, then 1 tablet 60 mg once a day, then only as needed for the last 2 years, and now I am back on 1 every day. It has worked so far.

Whole flax seeds work for me. I used to be dependent on an herb, cascara sagrada, which worked for me, but I couldn't have a bowel movement without it. Since I started taking at least 3 Tbsp of flax seed on my bagel, or just with water every morning, I am regular and feel great.
