Topic: Chondroitin Sulfate and Glucosamine in Treating Arthritis
Dr. Lee:
Are you aware of any studies
using these two agents in treating other types of arthritis such as
rheumatoid arthritis, gout arthritis, or lupus arthritis?
Dr. Shiel:
No. I am not aware of any
studies that verify that these agents would be appropriate to use for
those other conditions. It has been found by the current research studies
to be helpful only in the treatment of osteoarthritis (what is also called
degenerative arthritis).
