Cholesterol treatment considerations
Elevated cholesterol is clearly related to an increased risk of stroke and heart disease. There are now many treatment options and combinations of treatment options to lower elevated cholesterol that are available for patients with high cholesterol. The optimal cholesterol treatment for each patient depends on their own particular medical situation, age, underlying medical conditions, and health status.
Cholesterol treatment options
Treatment options for high cholesterol include combinations of lifestyle changes, exercise, diet, and medications. Whichever treatment program is used, those treating high cholesterol should be assured that their efforts are clearly beneficial as medical research has repeatedly shown that the risk of stroke and heart disease is much lower when cholesterol levels are normalized.
