Can stress cause speech problems?
Doctor's response
Speech and language problems in both adults and children can be temporary or permanent and can arise as a result of both physical and emotional problems. Sometimes, speech problems can be due to complications of a stroke or other neurological impairment, while in children, they may occur as a developmental delay or condition. Many people with speech problems report that their symptoms are worsened when they are experiencing stress, but psychological stress itself is not a known cause of speech problems.
