thiethylperazine-rectal suppository (cont.)PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver disease, seizure disorders, blood disorders, glaucoma, parkinsonism, asthma, allergies (especially drug allergies). Because this medication may cause drowsiness, use caution operating machinery or engaging in activities requiring alertness. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen when outdoors. It is recommended to avoid alcohol while using this medication. The manufacturer of this medication states this drug should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known if this medication is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you use, especially of: anti-anxiety drugs, antidepressants, muscle relaxants, anti-seizure drugs, high blood pressure drugs, atropine-like drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), sleeping pills, cisapride, lithium, sparfloxacin, grepafloxacin, guanethidine, guanadrel, metrizamide, cabergoline, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), other drugs that make you drowsy. Many cough-and-cold products contain ingredients that may add a drowsiness effect. Before using cough-and-cold medications, ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of those products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include muscle spasms of face or neck, confusion, seizures, lightheadedness, and slowed breathing. NOTES: This medication is also available as a tablet and an injection. Do not share this medication with others.
