GENERIC NAME: SODIUM CLODRONATE - ORAL (SO-dee-um KLOD-row-nate)Medication Uses | How To Use | Side Effects | Precautions | Drug Interactions | Overdose | Notes | Missed Dose | Storage USES: This medication acts on bone to help control blood calcium levels. It is used to treat high blood calcium levels. HOW TO USE: This medication is taken by mouth as directed. For best effects, take this two hours before or after eating. Swallow capsules whole with a full glass of water. It is important to maintain an adequate diet and drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Discuss this with your doctor or nutritionist. Separate doses of antacids or other drugs containing calcium, magnesium, iron (including vitamins), sucralfate and aluminum from this drug by at least 2 hours. These products can interfere with drug absorption. Consult your pharmacist. SIDE EFFECTS: Stomach upset, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these serious effects while using this medication: stiff muscles, difficulty moving, rapid heart rate, unusual weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
