USES: This medication is an anesthetic. It is used during surgical procedures.
HOW TO USE: This medication will be given by a health care professional. A special mask will be placed over your mouth and nose and the medication will be inhaled through the mask.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication causes drowsiness and dizziness. Expect these effects. Notify your doctor if you develop: anxiety, chills, breathing trouble, unusual change in amount of urine, seizures, muscle stiffness, fast/irregular heartbeat, stomach/abdominal pain, fatigue, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine. A serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, persistent dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, kidney disease, liver disease, allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.
NOTES: Your condition and response to this medication will be closely monitored.
MISSED DOSE: This medication is only given as needed by a health care professional.
STORAGE: Store this medication at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
