I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis when I was about 20. My problem areas were scalp, eyebrows, ears and elbows and hands. A doctor prescribed valisone lotion and the container had a place to put a small tube where you could part your hair and spray on the scalp. I now get a generic: betamethasone valerate lotion USP, 0.1%. I use a Q-tip for my ears. I've not been bothered for several years now. I chalk my case up to nerves, stress, etc. I do not know another family member that has this.

My child has this condition. Had it on his scalp, underarms and behind the ears. He uses T-Gel Shampoo, lotions up with Eucerin Lotion and uses triamcinolone acetonide behind ears and underarms every shower time. This really works for him. Sometimes I just use hydrocortisone cream 1.0% and that works too. If he skips any of this, dermatitis returns.

I have never heard of Seborrheic Dermatitis in my entire life until my teenager supposes to have it. My teenager problem with his scalp started after a haircut. I told the doctor and they claim its Seborrheic Dermatitis. Never have the doctor took time to get a hair sample and sent it to the lab. The saddest thing is the doctor's act as if they know nothing at all. They leave you hanging stating its incurable. What a way to waste money and patient's time. I remember you could go to a doctor and get better care and curable results. That's not real any more, you doomed if you do, and doomed if you don't.
