Are home remedies effective for a sty?

The best home remedy is to apply a warm compress as often as possible. It is important to remember that a chalazion may take months to resolve completely.

Apply turmeric powder paste on the sty before sleep at night. It will (may be) give a slight burning sensation, but it will be absorbed and cure within 2 to 3 days. Turmeric is a magical herb for many cures.

Good old fashioned 'old wives' tale' that works like a charm for my stye: take a warm, wet black tea bag and set it on the stye for about 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a day and it will be gone within a day or two. It also helps wonderfully for the pain.
