What are signs of macular degeneration?

In both dry and wet forms of macular degeneration, the ophthalmologist may find decreased visual clarity (acuity) with preservation of peripheral vision and changes in the central retina visible with the ophthalmoscope.

We had stopped in a gas station. Stretched with left eye closed and right eye opened. A truck sitting over to the side appeared to have an oval wheel so I checked with the other eye and wheel was round. Next day I went to the eye doctor and that doctor sent me to a retina specialist and that was back in December of 2008. I have wet macular degeneration in both eyes, my right eye we are done treating but still working to keep sight in left eye.

My left eye became blurred and I instinctively tried to clear it by blinking, without success. When I went for my annual test a tiny area of concern was identified in both eyes. At that point I discovered the Amsler Grid test for macular degeneration and when I took the test I saw a dip in one section using my left eye and a slight ripple in the periphery of my right eye.
