What are symptoms and signs of calcific bursitis?

Calcific bursitis may not cause any symptoms once the inflammation has subsided. Calcific bursitis typically leads to chronic pain, stiffness, and sometimes limited range of motion of the affected joint with use or when examined.

Recently, my right shoulder started hurting. It is more of an achy feeling, especially in my right arm when I'm sleeping. I can't lie on my right side. I'm wondering if it might be arthritis or bursitis.

I just got home from urgent care the day after thanksgiving. I've been in progressively severe pain since last Saturday. Today is Friday. I woke up with a painful kink in my arm from sleeping with my hands over my head. Each day the pain got a little worse. I started off taking ibuprofen then graduated to tramadol for pain and Voltaren for inflammation. I got some relief but if I missed my dose time the pain came back twice fold. Needless to say, my diagnosis was calcific bursitis in the left shoulder. It's been building for years. I've had limited mobility and pain in this arm but always dismissed it for something else. Now I know. The doctor prescribed a steroid therapy and physical therapy for me. I hope this helps.
