What causes a frozen shoulder?

Frozen shoulder is the result of inflammation, scarring, thickening, and shrinkage of the capsule that surrounds the normal shoulder joint. Any injury to the shoulder can lead to a frozen shoulder, including tendinitis, bursitis, and rotator cuff injury (rotator cuff syndrome). Frozen shoulders occur more frequently in patients with risk factors of diabetes, chronic inflammatory arthritis of the shoulder, or after chest or breast surgery. Long-term immobility of the shoulder joint can put people at risk to develop a frozen shoulder.

I am 30 year old lady. After the birth of my son (10 months back) I felt pain in my shoulder and because I have to carry my baby, the pain got intense. The pain is in the front upper joint in the right shoulder, though now the other shoulder is also affecting. The symptoms are pain, stiffness, and loss of range of motion of the shoulder. The shoulder range of motion is limited when either me or the examiner attempts to move the joint. To add I live in china (basically from Pakistan).

Probably no one will believe this, but my frozen shoulder is the direct result of receiving a flu shot in my deltoid. There have been many cases of this happening to other people as well. It is thought that possibly the injection is too high up and the vaccine has gone into the joint capsule. Some soreness is normal after the vaccination, but in my case it has been 8 days after the shot and I cannot lift my arm and am experiencing severe pain when I try to use it. I saw an MD yesterday and he diagnosed me with frozen shoulder. I will never get the flu shot again! I am a swimmer and very athletic and now cannot even work.
