Question: What other diseases are linked to Hashimoto's thyroiditis? Is there a link with kidney stone disease?
Answer: Diseases that have been associated with Hashimoto's (autoimmune) thyroiditis include rare lymphomas of the thyroid gland, primary pulmonary hypertension, and a variety of other autoimmune disorders.
Automimmune disorders that occur with increased frequency in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis include insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, myasthenia gravis, celiac disease, pernicious anemia, vitiligo, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, primary biliary cirrhosis, dermatitis herpetiformis, and Sjogren's syndrome.
Kidney stones occur in greater frequency in patients with Sjogren's syndrome.
