ERIC R. LEE, M.D., M.A.C.G.

A Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine he graduated, with honors, from the oldest and one of the most eminent Medical Schools of the modern world - University of Bologna, Italy. His training included a three year residency in Internal Medicine in New York and Gastroenterology specialty training at the Long Beach Veteran's Adm. Hospital under the tutelage of the founder of endoscopy, Dr. Rudolf Schindler. After some 30 years of practice in the Kaiser-Permanente system, he retired. His present activities include attending at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center training future Gastroenterologists, research studies on colon polyps, colon cancer, and nutrition. During his career he has been active in numerous local and national societies including Presidencies of the Orange County Gastroenterology Society, So. Cal. Soc. for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Federation of California Digestive Disease Societies, the National Council of Regional Endoscopic Societies, has served on the Governing Boards of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Lee has authored, or co- authored, some 40 articles in book chapters or medical journals. One of his main interests has been patient education and he has served, for many years, as the Director of Medical Education at the Kaiser Bellflower Medical Center and presently is chairing a sub-committee on patient education for the American College of gastroenterology. His awards, honors, and other professional activities are many. Recently he was honored by becoming a Master of the American College of Gastroenterology one of 47 in a membership of over 6,000. Despite his retirement, his interest in medicine and patient care continues, as evidenced by his volunteer teaching, research activities, and participation in this Web Site.
