"An American Idol  runner-up was recently in the news talking about her battles with bulimia...  Dr. Stoppler, is bulimia the same as binging and purging? Well, yes the eating disorder called bulimia nervosa does involve episodes of binge eating, often carried out in secret. These episodes of binging are followed by different types of inappropriate methods of weight control such as self-induced vomiting (purging), abuse of laxatives or abuse of diuretics, or even excessive exercise..."
