Sex Diet (cont.)
There are even
spices that can boost libido, such as mustard. Ginger is also very good because
it's a stimulant for the circulatory system. Even garlic has been known to heat up the passion, but of course you may need to keep a toothbrush handy.
I recommend salmon because the Omega 3 fatty acid raises the serotonin levels in the brain, which lifts your mood and makes you less irritable.
Berries are of course a great sensual treat. The compounds in them relax your blood vessels, which improve circulation; they also have a great deal of soluble fiber which pushes the
cholesterol through the digestive system, which is very healthy. Of course the best part is hand-feeding them to your partner. Eating them with low-fat cream makes them all the more fun.
Arugula has been documented as an aphrodisiac since the first century. Spinach is great as well, as it makes you look younger. Celery emits a scent that attracts women after men eat it, and celery is very healthy for you. Of course there are a variety of vegetables which are phallic in shape, which can be suggestive, like asparagus or cucumbers.
Oysters are the standard; they're a well-known aphrodisiac. They're also a great source of protein. Again, the hand-feeding can be very sensual, as well.
Is there any science behind these aphrodisiac foods or is it all myth?
A lot of it is the power of the mind, but there are some that have been documented in studies. I believe it's also personal -- a food can work for one person because of a memory. In terms of when you have increased blood circulation, you're going to be more capable of becoming aroused. In general, avoiding fatty foods, which inhibit the production of testosterone, will be beneficial. Too many carbohydrates will make you lethargic, as well. In the book I also recommend techniques for snacking that can help you control cravings.
My wife and I love your diet plan! My problem is that I snack way too much. Any tips on controlling my snacking urges?
Of course there is the mental state I recommend, where you try to rechannel your cravings, but of course sometimes when you are hungry you must snack on something. I have techniques, such as if you're craving chips, buy an individual pack of soy crisps. The serving is controlled and the soy is very healthy for you and much better for you than, of course, the fried chips. If you're craving candy, fruit is nature's candy which is the best substitute, but if you must have sugar, try hard candies, so it's a controlled portion rather than eating a bucket of Gummy Bears. Even techniques like freezing those indulgences when you must absolutely have them can keep the portion controls down, but I do allow small portions of dark chocolate, because I'm sure we've all heard about how it is an antioxidant and is good in small portions.

What about the so-called "body chocolate?"
Yes, if there's a sugar-free variety that would be best, but yes, body chocolates can help to control your portions of chocolate indulgences and enhance your pleasure in the bedroom.
My husband says he heard sex can improve your sense of smell and skin clarity. Is that true?
Yes. After sex we experience a boost in production of a hormone called prolactyn, which triggers the stem cells in the area of the brain that control your sense of smell to work more effectively. Interestingly enough, it also makes you smarter. Intense stimulation leads to the formation of new dendrites, which are the filaments attached to new nerve cells that allow neurons to communicate with each other. The more dendrites you have, the more you think, and the better you remember.
How do you deal with those days when you're just too tired to make love? I mean, this is a brilliant concept, and a heck of a lot more fun than riding the Stairmaster, but some days I'm just too tired to make love.
On those days
you can get yourself in the mood by starting small. Maybe you won't have sex
that day, but kissing and caressing can help keep you on the program. And also
you should know that sex works as a stress reliever, and of course, as a
sedative as well. So during that half-hour when you're feeling exhausted and
tossing and turning, if you would instead have sex, you may get to sleep faster and you'll feel refreshed the following day.
My concern is that my hubby has been too stressed out to make love for weeks. He's an accountant, and until after "busy season" he doesn't have any time! How do I make your diet plan work in my situation?
