Sensitive Skin: Causes and Treatments (cont.)

I have rosacea, somewhat controlled with MetroLotion, Minocycline, and a combination of a mild steroid plus Nizoral cream. My face still is reddish and these days very flaky, dry, and taught. It is clear that the dead skin cells need to be removed, but I am afraid to make the rosacea worse. Any suggestions, what products to use?

You may actually be having a reaction to one of the medications you're using on your face. I would have your dermatologist evaluate you to see if the products themselves are causing the problem.

We are almost out of time, Dr. Irwin. Before we wrap things up for today, do you have any final words for us?

Remember to always read ingredient lists on products. Short is always better. Avoid botanicals and fragrance in your skin care products. Free and Clear is an excellent product. Their main product is Vanicream. The products are free of fragrance, formaldehyde agents, many of the preservatives, etc.

Don't forget your pillowcases. Use All Free Clear.

Lastly, if you try new products, try one at a time a week apart, so if you have a problem you know which one it is. And see your dermatologist if the problem persists.
