"The term steroid refers to a general class of chemical compounds that are related to each other and share what's called the same chemical skeleton or backbone, so they have a similar chemical structure.  Many of the hormones in the body and many normal substances in the body are steroids along with many drugs.  When we're stalking about steroid abuse by athletes, we're talking about anabolic steroids.  These are chemically manufactured steroids ..."
