Viewer Question:What constitutes a 'slipped disc' and the usual treatment of? If left untreated? Thank you.
Doctor's Response:A "slipped disc" is a common way of refering to a bulging or herniated disc. Treatment usually involves rest, medication, and physical therapy. Sometimes injections and surgery are necessary. Many firmly believe in chiropractic treatment. The actual treatment necessary depends on many variables. Only after a thorough professional evaluation can a specific treatment plan be determined.
If left untreated, one of three things could happen. It could get better, it could stay the same, or it could get worse. (It seems obvious, but these are the options.)
Thank you for your question.
