Is Sleepiness Hurting You?

Assess the impact of sleepiness on your day.

  1. Do any of these situations apply to your life?
    • • You work at night or your work schedule often rotates.
    • • Your commute starts before 7 a.m.
    • • You have responsibilities -- parenting, studying or caregiving -- that cause you to stay up late or rise early.
  2. Compared to your coworkers, how much coffee do you drink?
  3. Do you feel tired or sleepy during work or school -- even after a good night's sleep?
  4. Do you ever take a nap during work hours?
  5. Have you ever fallen asleep involuntarily at work or in class?
  6. Do you use over-the-counter stimulants during the day?
  7. Have you ever nodded off while driving?
  8. Do you suffer from morning headaches?
  9. Have you ever experienced a "sleep attack" -- an uncontrollable urge to sleep during the day?
  10. Do you feel especially cranky in the morning?
