Definition of Asbestosis

Asbestosis: A condition featuring scarring of the lungs caused by inhaled asbestos fibers. Asbestosis is irreversible.

Asbestosis can also lead to lung cancer or to mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining on the surface of the lung.
