How does Schisandra work?

The chemicals in schisandra improve liver function by stimulating enzymes in the liver and promoting liver cell growth.

Are there safety concerns?

Schisandra fruit is considered safe. It can cause heartburn, upset stomach, decreased appetite, stomach pain, skin rash, and itching.

Do not take schisandra if:
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • You have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • You have peptic ulcer disease (PUD).
  • You have epilepsy.
  • You have high intracranial (brain) pressure.
