Fatalities have occurred in such patients when propoxyphene was misused. It is important not to take more of this medication than prescribed. USES: This combination medication is used to treat mild to moderate pain. Propoxyphene is a narcotic pain reliever (opiate-type) that acts on certain centers in the brain to give you pain relief. Acetaminophen is a non-narcotic pain reliever.
