Patient Comments: Preeclampsia - Personal Experience

Please share your experience with preeclampsia.

Comment from: vanessa, 45-54 Female (Patient) Published: April 11

I had preeclampsia / toxemia during pregnancy. My blood pressure reached dangerous levels very quickly after discovering protein in the urine. I delivered my baby at 28 weeks and he weighed 3 pounds, 5 ounces. That was 30 years ago. He is now a new daddy himself. However, since the young age of 13, he has taken blood pressure medication. Otherwise, he is very healthy. It was a rough start with such a small baby. Thankfully, we lived in a city with a wonderful neonatal unit, which is much more advanced now. With the proper care and equipment, babies can be saved. I've always wondered if other preemies born early due to preeclampsia have encountered blood pressure issues in their own lives.
