I started off with the body aches and high fever (my normal temp is 97, so 102 was really high). No cough until 4 days later. I was treated with an antibiotic for secondary infection (sinus). I was first diagnosed with parainfluenza. Four days later, I had a chest x ray at my own insistence. Sure enough, the entire left lung had pneumonia. I doubled up on my antibiotic and actually felt better other than the fatigue. I ran out of sick days, so I finally went back to the doctor to check out the pneumonia. It was gone. I was given a shot of rocephin "JUST TO BE SURE" which hurt so much I didn't feel better. I was not getting better. No fever, but the coughing up junk was worse and worse. Then, my head became very congested and I couldn't breathe. Still, lungs were clear. It was determined that allergies caused all of my problems, even though I was on allergy shots for 3 months prior. Sickest I have ever been and still recovering 6 weeks later.

I am 36, in good health, and rarely get sick. A week ago, I had a 102-degree fever and tried alternating between ibuprofen and acetaminophen to control the fever. After day six, my boyfriend insisted I go to the ER. It was there they confirmed with a chest X-ray that I had pneumonia in my lower left lobe. It just goes to show you that anyone at any age can get pneumonia. Oh, and if your doctor prescribes you azithromycin, prepare to be close to a toilet. "Mild diarrhea" as a side effect should be relabeled as "borderline feeling like you just got a colonic."

I woke up last weekend with a sore throat that came out of nowhere. It quickly went into a fever the next day and lasted for about 2 days. Then came a cold with a very stuffy nose and lastly a cough. The cough however was very rough, and kept me up all night last night. I also was noticing that I am getting real out of breath. Just walking from my car to the doctors had me breathing loud, and I would never get out of breath from something as small as that. The doctor listened to my breathing, and told me that I got pneumonia on my right lung side. Gave me medicine, and so let's hope it clears up!

I'm a college freshman. I was perfectly healthy, and one day, a pain in my lower back hit. It was sporadic for the first few days, and I thought I pulled a muscle. Two days later, it was nearly unbearable. I went to my campus doctor, and he agreed it was probably a muscle since I had no other symptoms. No cough, muscle aches, chest pains, headaches or fevers. Over the weekend, it got considerably worse, and I ended up in the ER. Turns out, it was walking pneumonia.

I am 35 years old and I have been coughing tremendously with a lot of chest pain. For the past four days I had no sleep what so ever. I started off with a slight fever of about 100 F with severe chills. The fever went away and was followed by a sore throat, chills, and bad body aches. I have since been up every night coughing and gagging. Every time I lay down my throat gets itchy and mucus builds up causing me to cough continuously all night. This has been going on for four to five days now.

I had been sick for a month but thought it was a chest cold. Started throwing up at night and after a few nights, I was in so much pain. On my last night at home, I became unconscious off and on. The chest pain was so severe that I thought I was having a heart attack. I managed to call an ambulance and was taken to the hospital with really low oxygen levels, pre-shutdown of kidneys, pain on a scale of 1 - 10, an 11 or 12! I spent 10 days in the hospital, the first two I don't remember at all. The only good thing that came out of this was that I quit smoking after 45 years! I am 62 years old!
