The night before, I felt like I had the beginning of a cold, took a shower, and went to bed. The next morning, I could not move, I was in pain and could barely call out for help. I was rushed to ICU where I was put on the ventilator and woke up 6 days later and was told I had bi-lateral pneumonia and had a 50-50 chance of survival. This was the 3rd time. The doctors say I may not live through the next one, and my wife was just diagnosed with the same type of pneumonia I had. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I was a heavy drinker and drug user at the age of 17 and contracted first glandular fever then Pneumonia. I spent a couple of months with extreme fevers to the extent of hallucination, trying to tough it out like a typical teenager. One night I was coughing and instead of phlegm I started coughing up handfuls of blood. I was rushed to hospital, In a terrible state, I was unaware that I was nearly dead as my body temp was at 45.5 deg C. It took several months and no alcohol or drugs to recover! I learned my lesson the hard way but I am glad I learned. Was this comment helpful?Yes

For the last 6 months or so I had this cough as I was trying to clear my throat. My doctor suggested that it was possible that I had reflux and prescribed Nexium. About a week ago I got these symptoms of chills and shaking and during the night hot sweats. This went on for 4 days before I addressed it. It is now under control. Was this comment helpful?Yes

About 4 weeks ago I started with a cough that I cough not shake. It seemed to be getting deeper so I visiited a doctor who diagnosed Bronchitis. I was prescribed azithromycin, prednisone and a Ventolin inhaler. After the first two treatments with the inhaler I suffered severe coughing spasms which took my breath and gave me severe chest pains. I stopped the inhaler and during the next week continued coughing. Two nights later I experienced sore throat, warm, clammy skin and continuous coughing that kept me up 2 days and nights straight. I returned to the doctor who at that time did a chest xray and diagnosed pneumonia. I have been prescribed Levaquin, more prednisone and Cheratussin cough syrup, I still have occasional cough, thick mucous preventing me from sleeping in a laying position and shortness of breath with exertion. It has been close to a month and I really hope it ends soon. Was this comment helpful?Yes

Hello, I am 39 years old. I have had Pneumonia 3 times and this past one they were not expecting me to live. Oxygen levels were down to 76 and the doctor put me in ICU. It was the longest two weeks I went through. So when you are having problems with your chest breathing please see your doctor as soon as possible. Was this comment helpful?Yes

My mother in law has been admitted to ICU for pneumonia, the doctor said it's just 1% pneumonia, but they put her on the ventilator. She is a diabetic and she has hypertension. They are feeding her through a tube, they are giving her some kind of injection. The doctor said that she has a virus in her brain. She is responding to everyone. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I was wheezing and coughing so I went to the doctor. The x-ray showed the beginning of pneumonia in both lungs. I never had a fever, but I was really tired and out of breath, although my oxygen level was at 97 which is my usual level.
