DRUG INTERACTIONS: Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially of: aminoglycosides (e.g., gentamicin, amikacin), amphotericin B, cyclosporine, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., ibuprofen), tacrolimus, vancomycin. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, fatigue, severe nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, shortness of breath, wheezing, very slow heartbeat, or numbness or tingling in arms, hands, legs, or feet.
NOTES: Laboratory tests and blood counts will be done routinely while using this medication to monitor its effects and prevent side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments. Aluminum reacts with oxaliplatin causing a precipitate. Do not use needles or IV sets that contain aluminum parts.
MISSED DOSE: It is important that each dose be used as scheduled. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor who will help establish a new dose schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store the unmixed vials at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 56 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. Once prepared, this medication is stable for only 6 hours at room temperature (59-86 degrees F or 15-30 degrees C) or up to 24 hours when refrigerated between 36 and 46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C). Check the expiration date on the label and properly discard of any unused medication after that time. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
