What were the symptoms of your norovirus infection?

My 3 brothers and I drove down to Florida one day. We ate at a restaurant in Kentucky and one in Tennessee. About 8-12 hours later I began projectile vomiting in the car. The next day I had uncontrollable diarrhea that lasted for several days. When we got to Florida my other brother started vomiting severely and could not move or function properly. The same day my other brother vomited while driving the car and was disabled for 2 days. The last brother never got any symptoms, but felt nauseous. We couldn't enjoy the nice weather or anything. We felt miserable the who time. We drove back a few days later and since then we feel better, but we infected other people in our families.

My bout with norovirus started around 10 pm on 12 January 2013. I started throwing up and continued every few minutes throughout the night. I had watery stools that started after midnight, and both continued into the morning. Over the next 48 hours I lost 10 pounds (I went from 162 to 152). I was bedridden until Tuesday morning, and slept only a few hours in the first three days. I had no fever, but did have painful abdominal cramping and dehydration. Today is January 18th, and I can eat lightly. I'm still very weak, and it is quite difficult to even take my dog for a modest (1/4 mile) walk. It's been quite a week. I recommend washing your hands throughout the day, and avoid crowds when you can. (I certainly don't want to contract influenza after this!) Now I carry a small bottle of antibacterial lotion with me, and use it after touching doorknobs, pulls, etc. Trust me, you do not want this disease.

I am a mental health nurse based in a forensic unit. I went to work night duty on Saturday and Sunday feeling unwell. I didn't feel like eating and was sick on two occasions. Since then I've had loose stools, pains in my tummy, a sore head, and feeling dizzy. I haven't been sick again but feel sick even at the thought of eating anything. I have lost 5 pounds in weight in a few days and have kept a check on my temperature as it was spiking. Today i had to phone work to say I wouldn't be in for my night duty tonight which is unusual for me to do. I am exhausted and have no energy so I really couldn't do my job efficiently. Iope everyone who has this virus gets better soon and has a merry Christmas.

This is a horrible type of viral infection which I never felt before. It started last Friday and is still continuing. I think I had 30 episodes of loose stools by this time. I am also admitted in the hospital due to dehydration and had IVF, still it is continuing, hopefully it will be stop soon, I have to take 4 days of sick leave from my work.

My grandson had it for seven days. Severe cramps, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The abdominal pain was terrible. So bad he was at the ER twice. He is 11 years old and lost nine pounds in a week. Make sure the person drinks lots of Gatorade or similar. He was also prescribed a liquid to coat and calm the intestinal tract.

My daughter received a Congressional Gold Medal in Washington, DC. She was there for a weeklong experience and left the group a day early due to her work experience. As she was on her way home on a bus she became ill with repeated vomiting. She found out via Facebook that 55 out of the 65 participating were ill and that 15 had been hospitalized. She was unable to keep food down for 24 hours and had no appetite even now...days later.

My son got it on a Saturday. He was totally dehydrated on Sunday and ended up in the ER. The headache for him was maddening, as well as a high fever and body aches. Yes, he also had vomiting and diarrhea. He had to miss work two days because of uncontrollable loose stools. I fell sick on Tuesday. Fever over 103 and all of the symptoms above. Today is Friday and still have nausea, high fever, chills, body aches, etc., BUT no headache now. That seemed to totally make me feel like I would survive this. I am still sick and think this will take several days to lose this fever. I'm going to be seen again if I still have a fever in three more days that surpasses 103. What a bummer. It's awful.
