Almost a year ago I had two flu types A and B. This lead to sepsis and D.I.C. God healed me and I have recently been released by most of my doctors. My swelling was so severe that I now have neuropathy in both my feet and hands - amputation was once a possibility. I have been in so much pain -burning, sharp "knife like “pain. I have tried neurontin, which helped but me gain weight. Now have a RX to try Topamax. Wish me luck! Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have been in pain for about 10 years. Having had bad experiences with doctors telling me I'm depressed, etc, I just learned to live with it. But 4 years ago, it crossed the line and became unbearable. It sent me to the clinic, as I have no insurance. It was hard to describe this pain, until my neighbor who is a diabetic said her neuropathy feels like "breaking bones". I'm like aha, yea, that's it! Breaking bones mixed with electricity, on every inch of my body. As of now, not sure what I have 2 mri's of the brain and one of the spine, herniated disc and lesions, and "nonspecific" white matter lesions on the brain. I feel for all of you I know it's a living hell especially when people don't believe you. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I had multiple reconstructive surgeries on my left ear to replace an eardrum I lost at the age of 4. All the skin grafts were taken from the same site. A minor infection a year ago triggered a pain response that has not gone away but only gotten worse. My ENT washed his hands of me when the ear infection went away. So far my insurance has only authorized narcotics for treatment and I am fighting for alternative treatments. My primary care doctor has been treating me and was the one to take time to do research to figure out what I had. Was this comment helpful?Yes

All my Neuropathic pain came from me being depressed and sitting and sleeping in the same chair for two years, not getting up except to go to the bathroom. I lost from 135lbs to 87lbs because of this. The bones in my butt had either severed or mashed the nerves. I can't sit without pain pills, I haven't found a doctor who will help me, other than helping with the pain. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I am a polio survivor and have had late effects including sensory loss and wasting in shoulder girdle and upper arms, and central sleep apnea and chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. Neuropathic pain in my feet is horrible. It seems that my polio is the most likely cause, as other causes you list do not relate for me, and polio is mentioned in other references. I am helped quite a bit by gabapentin, ibuprofen and Diegetic, but the stabbing pains are still inhibiting. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have had severe pain mostly in lower back and legs for about 16 years. I have been to many doctors that have either told me "you are too young to have pain like this" or "you have spinal problems". And MRI after MRI has proven that I have multiple back problems, yet none of my doctors want to help my pain. All they want to do is give me a prescription that I could pretty much double the dose of the OTC version and send me on my way. I finally, After 16 agonizing Years of being in pain, that no one else understands, went to a neurosurgeon to discuss surgery, I had written down ALL of my symptoms for him to go over. He did his evaluation and immediately said, "I am going to refer you to a neurologist because the majority of your symptoms sound like neuropathy. I will find out tomorrow who I was referred to and hopefully will, finally, after 16 years, get some REAL answers and maybe, some REAL HELP!
